1. Find the surface area and volume of a cuboid of length 6m, breadth 3m and height 2.5m.

Solution: Here, l=6 m , b=3 m , h=2.5 m

The surface area of a cuboid =2lb+bh+hl

=26×3+3×2.5+2.5×6

=218+7.5+15.0=2×40.5=81 m²  

The volume of a cuboid =l×b×h

=6×3×2.5=45 

 

2. Find the surface area and volume of a cube of edge 3.6 cm.

Solution: Here, a=3.6 cm

The surface area of a cube =6a2

=6×3.62=6×12.96=77.76 cm²

The volume of a cube =a³=3.6³=3.6×3.6×3.6=279.94 cm³  

 

3. Find the edge of a cube whose volume is 3375 cm³ . Also, find its surface area.

Solution: Let , a the edge of a cube .

A/Q, a3=3375

a3=153

⇒a=15 cm

The surface area of a cube =6a2

=6×152=6×225=1350 cm²

 

4. The external dimensions of a closed wooden box are 42 cm × 32 cm × 27 cm. Find the internal volume of the box, if the thickness of the wood is 1cm.

Solution: Here,   l= 42-21=42-2=40 cm ,

 b= 32-21=32-2 =30 cm 

And   h= 27-21=27-2=25 cm

The internal volume of the box =l×b×h

=40×30×25=1200×25=30000 cm³
